One way to ensure your flow meter is in tip-top shape is to design a calibration schedule that will determine when it is time for your flow meter to be sent to the lab for recalibration. Although it is recommended to use the schedule provided to you by the flow meters manufacturer, it is in your best interest to take your flow meter to an accredited calibration lab and have a schedule created for you there. Accredited calibration labs are required to make all calibrations performed traceable through NIST. With a traceable calibration history, the lab will be able to evaluate the flow meters performance between each recalibration visit. This will help determine if the flow meter will need to be calibrated more or less, therefore, helping you create a schedule personalized to your particular flow meter.
