Regulatory Trends Impacting MRO

Panels can be a real roll of the dice when it comes to sessions, as topics typically don’t get explored in depth. However, this panel has many key industry players that will be worth watching. Panelists Gregg Brown (Director Quality Assurance, Southwest Airlines), Christopher Julius (MD Regulatory Affairs, American Airlines), Tim Shaver (Manager – Aircraft Maintenance Division, FAA), and Chris Markou (Operational Cost Management, IATA) will discuss the requirements for Safety Management & Promotion and Safety Management Systems. The panel will be moderated by Steve Douglas (VP, CAVOK) and provide strategies for harmonizing the regulation process to avoid s a series of audits.

New Technology: Impact on MRO and the Shop Floor

Bob Eardley (Senior Director of Innovation and Operations, Air Canada), Raj Singh (Managing Director, JetBlue Technology Ventures), and Rick Stine (President -Military & Components, StandardAero) will talk about how new technologies will impact MRO operations. Core technologies discussed will include drones, virtual reality (VR), and robotics. Companies like Embraer are already using VR technologies to provide tours of aircraft that have yet to be manufactured. The speakers will also explore how MRO’s can decide when investing in new technology is the right choice.

They will let MRO’s know the future challenges that will come in aircraft engine maintenance procedures. They will answer questions such as “How will the influence of lessors on engine maintenance evolve as the industry moves and changes?”
